LeapPoint Announces Support for New EAP Types in AiroPoint 3600 Release 3.0



ANN ARBOR, MI., May 28, 2003- LeapPoint Technologies, Inc., manufacturer of the first standards-based wireless security appliance, announced today its new AiroPoint 3600 release 3.0. With this new release, the AiroPoint 3600 now surpasses the features and functions of competing solutions such as the product offering from Funk Software.

The AiroPoint 3600 Security Server is a complete wireless LAN access control and security solution based on the 802.1x security standard. The product can be installed in minutes and is configured with a browser-based interface, providing state-of-the-art security that is easily deployed across enterprise networks. The AiroPoint 3600 supports common EAP clients and protocols, including Cisco's proprietary LEAP protocol which is available on Cisco's Aironet wireless product line. The AiroPoint 3600's list of supported EAP types now includes EAP-MD5, EAP-TLS, EAP-LEAP, EAP-TTLS, and EAP-PEAP. AiroPoint 3600 Release 3.0 also includes some advanced features for installations that require MAC based authentication to support older hand-held wireless devices, such as bar-code scanners.
