LeapPoint Adds Full Support for Cisco PEAP in AiroPoint 3600 Version 3.1



ANN ARBOR, MI., July 29, 2003- LeapPoint Technologies, Inc., manufacturer of the first standards-based wireless security appliance, today announced general availability of the AiroPoint 3600 product release 3.1, which is an enhanced version of the AiroPoint 3600 and AiroPoint 3600-SE security servers.

"Release 3.1 includes several new features, the most significant of course is the AiroPoint 3600's support for Cisco's version of PEAP," said Don Holland, CTO of LeapPoint. "We have been beta testing release 3.1 for almost two months at multiple locations using Cisco PEAP with great success." Release 3.1 includes other new features such as improved certificate handling and a preinstalled server-side certificate for use with PEAP, TLS, and TTLS, along with support for certificate revocation lists for EAP-TLS.

The AiroPoint 3600 supports all EAP types, the new Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) Specification, and features a wireless wizard which makes the AiroPoint 3600 very easy to install and use. "With support for Cisco PEAP, MS PEAP, and all other common EAP types, the AiroPoint 3600 products continue to surpass the features and functions of competing solutions such as the product offering from Funk Software," said Holland.

The AiroPoint 3600 Security Server is a complete wireless LAN access control and security solution based on the 802.1x security standard. The product can be installed in minutes and is configured with a browser-based interface, providing state-of-the-art security that is easily deployed across enterprise networks. The AiroPoint 3600 supports common EAP clients and protocols, including Cisco's proprietary LEAP protocol which is available on Cisco's Aironet wireless product line. The AiroPoint 3600's list of supported EAP types now includes EAPMD5, EAP-TLS, EAP-LEAP, EAP-TTLS, and EAP-PEAP (both the Cisco and Microsoft versions).

With complete AAA (authentication, authorization, and accounting) functionality, the AiroPoint 3600 security server provides authentication, authorization, and accounting services for other equipment such as Network Access Servers, VPNs, Firewalls, Wireless Switches, as well as WLAN Access Points.
