Southwest Microwave Introduces Windows-based Perimeter Security Manager

Southwest Microwave introduces Perimeter Security Manager, an advanced security monitoring and control system offering sophisticated integration capabilities.

This real-time, Windows-based system is perfect for facilities seeking to integrate and manage several perimeter security devices at a single location or multiple sites. With Perimeter Security Manager, security professionals can monitor Southwest Microwave's complete range of intrusion detection equipment, and offers high level interface to a broad range of auxiliary security devices, including CCTV cameras, Digital Video Recorders (DVRs), perimeter lighting, pagers and gates.

The system provides the convenience of multiple site control, multiple workstations and remote, password-protected system access. Perimeter Security Manager also allows plug-and-play integration of security devices, so modules are immediately recognized with no hardwiring required.

"Our Perimeter Security Manager technology does exactly what the name suggests: it manages your entire perimeter security system, incorporating advanced software technology with an intuitive interface, automated alarm protocols and easy system integration," said Bob Kirkaldie, Southwest Microwave's Director of Sales and Marketing. "This system is designed to work with Southwest Microwave's INTREPID product family as well as CCTV systems and auxiliary security devices."

Another feature that sets Southwest Microwave's Perimeter Security Manager apart is its intuitive graphical user interface (GUI), which features high-resolution images, live video, graphical maps, customizable screens and event diagnostics. The user-friendly display with optional touch-screen capability lets operators view a detailed, 2D site rendering with real-time active icons that clearly indicate the status and location of security system devices. These icons are actually shaped like the devices for quick visual recognition.

Operators have complete system control at their fingertips. Using the menu, they can move cameras using pan, tilt and zoom settings as well as control lighting protocols and view stored images in the system's database.

"Using the INTREPIDT system, Perimeter Security Manager automatically controls CCTV cameras to point to the area of intrusion and provides automatic alarm activity logging," said Kirkaldie. "The higher-level software interface is a lot faster and much more powerful than using more traditional alarm relay contacts-particularly with larger sites or multiple locations."

The system's automated alarm-handling capability reduces operator guesswork. If an incident occurs, operators are notified with an alarm and provided with step-by-step, pre-programmed instructions on how to initiate an appropriate response based on that specific security breach.

In addition to being able to monitor multiple sites, the Perimeter Security Manager has a unique "migrating server" architecture, allowing one or more workstations to become a backup server in the event the master PC is disabled.

"This provides instantaneous backup just in case the main server crashes or loses power," said Kirkaldie. "This high reliability and redundancy is not available with other security management systems."
