Tamron Announces ZoomCam Featuring Highest Optical Zoom Ratio In Security Market

New Day & Night 25X ZoomCam Offers High Magnification Digital Zoom Up To 200X

ISC West, Las Vegas, March 2002: Tamron announced a new ZoomCam featuring a 25X zoom ratio, the highest in the security market. The new 3.8-95mm F/1.6-3.7 AF ZoomCam, an ideal camera for security applications and system integration, is compact despite its zoom range due to the advanced technology using two aspherical lenses. Its zoom ratio is an impressive 200X due to the 8X digital zoom feature.

The new ZoomCam is extremely versatile and performs beautifully under extreme light conditions. Thanks to the development of a new AF system, Tamron's 25X ZoomCam is able to focus on strongly
lit images and even images with varied densities moving in a vertical direction. The camera will also automatically switch over to b/w when set to the Day & Night mode with its Automatic IR On/Off Switch. The ZoomCam boasts a minimum lux of 1.0 with the Day & Night mode off (color) and 0.1 lux with the day & night mode on (b/w). In fact, the ZoomCam offers a minimum lux of 0.01 in color when used with the field memory/integration mode on. In addition, Tamron's new ZoomCam incorporates a
high sensitivity 1/4" Super HAD CCD sensor for improved image quality resulting in high horizontal resolution of more than 470TV lines. The result is high sensitivity and excellent imaging, even under very low light conditions.

The ZoomCam features Digital Signal Processing (DSP) based circuitry to ensure high levels of stability and superior color reproduction on videotape. The ZoomCam incorporates several key functions including five different white balance modes with one push AF function, five different BLC area selections, auto iris, remote control ability through RS-232C/422/485 options, and 64 preset positions for Zoom/Focus.

The ZoomCam is as reliable as it is easy to use. The "ready to install" ZoomCam eliminates tedious and time-consuming back focus adjustments because of the integrated lens/camera design. A lens drive unit ensures the high level of robustness essential in the security field. In-house tests have demonstrated that
the reliability achieved from the lens in this camera is many times greater than that of conventional lenses.

The ZoomCam will be available in Spring 2002. Pricing is not yet established.
