HEIDENHAIN's Newest Linear Encoder for the Press Brake Industry
SCHAUMBURG, IL - (October 2005) - As the demands for measuring systems for press brakes change, so has the HEIDENHAIN product line. HEIDENHAIN's newest specialized encoder for this application, the model LS 1679, is a sealed linear scale with an integrated roller guide making this unit both highly accurate and cost effective.
With the need for better resolutions increasing, this LS 1679 is available with a resolution of 5 µm or 1 µm after 4-fold evaluation. Space requirements have resulted in the LS 1679 having no pluggable cable assembly, so the LS 1679 is available with left or right cable exit to ensure mechanical compatibility with press brakes.
In this new encoder, the four ball bearings of the carriage are guided along two steel rails which are integrated in the aluminum housing. The combination of these two high quality materials makes for excellent wear resistance. The position of the guide in the encoder protects the bearing surfaces from dust or contamination.
HEIDENHAIN's new LS 1679 is the next generation linear encoder for press brakes, improving up the previous LS 6X9. Standard measuring lengths up to 470 mm are available, with longer lengths up to 720 mm available upon request.
