"Environmentally Sealed" Linear Actuators Can Be Washed Down and Autoclaved!
Mattituck, NY - A new series of compact, "Environmentally Sealed Linear Actuators" (ESLA) based on the DIGIT(TM) has been introduced by Ultra Motion. These sealed, compact, quiet, high performance NEMA 17 and NEMA 23 size actuators can be washed down or autoclaved, making them ideal for medical, food handling, cleanroom, and wet applications. The motor end is sealed with polyolifin shrink tubing and polyurethane adhesive sealent. The non-magnetic, polished stainless steel shaft is sealed with a high tensile, low friction Buna-N U-Cup seal. The tube body of the actuator is made of 6061-T6 aluminum which has been clear anodized.
The ESLA-17 and the ESLA-23 are available in 2, 4, and 8 inch stroke lengths. Standard lead screw options include: 0.0833 inch pitch self locking (non-backdriveable)Acme lead screw, a 0.2500 inch pitch Acme lead screw, a 0.4000 inch pitch Acme lead screw, and two (single or double nut) 0.1250 inch pitch ball screws.
Ultra Motion's ESLA-17, depending on the lead screw selected, features a linear step resolution of 2400 steps/in., backlash of 0.0005 in., max speed of 16.0 in/sec., and a max force of 97 lbs. The ESLA-23, depending on the lead screw selected, features a linear step resolution of 2400 steps/in., backlash of 0.0005 in., max speed of 16.0 in/sec., and a max force of 392 lbs. A variety of mounting options, including stainless steel rod bearing clevises, trunnion mounts, and brackets, allows easy integration into new and existing applications.
The ESLA-17"& ESLA -23 are available with matching controllers and drivers for full, half step and micro-stepping operation. Home position sensing can be accomplished with externally adjustable reed switches and as an option, absolute (not incremental) analog position feedback. The ESLA-17 is just 1.72 in. (44 mm) square x 2.30 in. (58.4 mm) long at the motor end with a 1.25 in. (31.75) diameter housing tube. The overall length is only 5.8 in. (147.3 mm) longer than the stroke length.
