Seal-It and AgroLabs Commercialize PLA Film Shrink Labels

Seal-It, a division of Printpack, Inc., has produced the first commercial full body shrink sleeve labels in the nutraceutical product category made from Earthfirst® PLA The goal for brand owner AgroLabs, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Integrated BioPharma, Inc, was to reduce unnecessary packaging by taking its' bottle out of the box, utilizing dazzling labels that have fantastic shelf appeal.

Four shrink labels were converted and printed for AgroLabs' "Naturally" line of nutritional supplements, Naturally Pomegranate, Naturally Noni, Naturally Thai Mangosteen and Cranberry. PLA was the substrate of choice primarily because AgroLabs was looking for source reduction and more sustainable packaging for its club store customers. Seal-It prints these labels rotogravure in 8-9 colors. The shrink labels have 360-degree image area, which provides room for fabulous graphics that picture the contents of the supplement, information pertaining to the ingredients, nutritional information and a bar code. The PLA film is compostable and has an extraordinary shrink factor, so it will shrink to the contours of the uniquely shaped glass bottle, providing a high gloss, premium look that meets the customer's need for a more environmentally friendly package.

Seal-It, a division of Printpack, Inc., is a manufacturer, converter and printer of heat shrink PVC, PETG, OPS & PLA films, used by manufacturers for labeling, tamper-evident bands and sleeves for multipacks. Seal-It prints up to 10 colors in a choice of rotogravure or flexographic. Printpack is a full service provider of flexible and rigid packaging that offers the latest in packaging technology for consumer and industrial markets.
