SecuGen Announces Availability of NIST Certified Fingerprint Template Extraction and Matching Software for FIPS 201/PIV Use

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 14 -- SecuGen is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the SecuGen SDK Collection Release 10, containing NIST Certified fingerprint template extraction and matching algorithms that are compliant with NIST's FIPS 201 standard for the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) of Federal Employees and Contractors.

Together with the recently announced Hamster IV(TM) fingerprint reader, SecuGen's software developer kit containing these newly released algorithms constitute a complete fingerprint biometric toolset for developers interested in creating FIPS 201/PIV compliant applications. SecuGen's template extraction and matching algorithms as well as the Hamster IV fingerprint reader are listed on the U.S. GSA's FIPS 201 Approved Products List.

Dan Riley, VP of Software Development for SecuGen stated, "Our team continues to work hard to provide developers with the tools they need to succeed in today's highly competitive biometrics marketplace. Our ISV partners have spoken to us about their need for such a toolset and we listened. These fingerprint algorithms have been rigorously tested by NIST's MINEX test program to certify that they're accurate, interoperable and robust enough to work in the diverse environments of federal agencies and facilities across the nation."

Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen added, "We are delighted to be able to play a role in promoting the Department of Homeland Security's push for standards related to fingerprint biometric hardware and software. We believe that, in the long run, FIPS 201 with its incorporated biometric standards will be a major facilitator of growth for the biometrics industry."

Both the SecuGen SDK Collection Release 10 and the Hamster IV are available for immediate purchase. The SDK Collection includes numerous other software developer kits and tools that support Windows, Linux, Java and other platforms.
