SiTel Launches Software Development Kit for CAT-iq

Supporting the transition from PSTN to VoIP, Natalie 3.0 simplifies DECT integration into next-generation IADs

's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, December 11, 2007 - SiTel Semiconductor today announced the release of the company's latest Natalie software development kit for cordless telephony. Natalie 3.0 comprises a complete, proven and scalable wireless protocol stack in C source code, as well as hardware reference designs, development boards, debugging tools, a standard Man Machine Interface (MMI) and basic application code examples. This new release also offers a through-the-air upgrade capability, allowing customers to create CAT-iq compliant devices that seamlessly support future protocol developments.

Based on a user-friendly, modular architecture, the Natalie software kit can be used with the entire SiTel product family. All industry accepted protocols (DECT, DECT 6.0, 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz and CAT-iq) are incorporated along with DSP-related and operating system functionality. A standard MMI is provided but using the development tools within the kit customers can create a fully customized MMI for enabling fixed and portable part (FP / PP) functionality.

"As a leading silicon provider for CAT-iq cordless telephony applications, we aim to help our customers react to the growing pressures of getting to market fast and at low cost," said Jos van der Loop, Product Marketing Manager of SiTel. "Developed over the last 20 years, the Natalie software helps customers cut development times, costs and resource demand for systems, features and upgrades, while maintaining complete freedom on feature integration. The full Natalie package of software and hardware IP ensures everyone from small design houses to international manufacturers can fully benefit from low-cost research and development."

Completely field upgradeable, the Natalie kit provides a single basic stack and MMI that cover all current PSTN and future IAD (Integrated Access Device) cordless telephony applications. SiTel's Natalie roadmap also ensures new software functionality is released in time to meet market demands while maintaining backwards compatibility. In addition, extensive support, training and documentation are available.
