SDK helps build fingerprint authentication applications.

Press Release Summary:

Compatible with slide and touch sensors, SDK for ML67Q5250 is comprised of evaluation board to develop fingerprint authentication systems and software. Fingerprint authentication LSI enables match-on-device, while touch sensor and driver software import fingerprint image. Interface helps connect desired sensor, and other applications can be developed using included I/O drivers and authentication libraries. Debugging can be done by connecting ARM-compliant JTAG ICE interface.

OKI Upgrades Software Development Kit for Fingerprint Authentication LSI

Now compatible with slide sensors and touch sensors

TOKYO, May 20, 2008 -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TSE: 6703) today announced it has released its second version Software Development Kit (SDK) for ML67Q5250, the fingerprint authentication LSI that enables match-on-device. OKI made improvements to the SDK to enable compatibility with different types of touch sensors. In addition to slide sensors, with the fingerprint authentication algorithm that is built-in in ML67Q5250, manufacturers can now provide embedded systems for touch sensors that feature low power consumption and high-speed processing.

"While the first SDK was only compatible with slide sensors, demand for touch sensors has been increasing for applications in door locks, access control and ID terminals aimed at users of all ages. Responding to this demand, OKI developed the SDK for ML67Q5250 to be used for touch sensors," said Hiroshi Enomoto, President of Silicon Solutions Company at OKI. "Customers wanting to use touch sensors can now develop a fingerprint authentication system using ML67Q5250, simply by preparing a touch sensor and the driver software to import the fingerprint image."

OKI added a software interface to the new SDK to enable customers to easily connect their desired sensor. Instead of limiting the types of sensors that can connect to the SDK, OKI made it easy for customers to connect various types of touch sensors for use in different environments.

The fingerprint authentication system market is expected to continue growing, and OKI plans to expand its business in that field by providing an easy-to-use development environment that reduces the development load.

Summary of the second version Software Development Kit (SDK) for ML67Q5250
The SDK is a packaged product including an evaluation board to develop fingerprint authentication systems and software. Customers can also develop their own applications by using IO drivers and the fingerprint authentication libraries included in the SDK. In addition, debugging the software can be done easily by connecting an ARM compliant JTAG ICE interface.
