Panasonic Adds 8GB Model to Its Pro High Speed SD Card Lineup
SECAUCUS, N.J., July 30 /-- Panasonic, a leader in digital electronics, today announced plans to launch an 8GB Pro High Speed SD Memory Card featuring both high capacity and high speed. The 8GB SD Memory Card, model RP-SDV08GU1K, will be globally released in September, 2007 with a suggested retail price of $159.99. Having added this model, Panasonic now offers four Pro High Speed models, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB card sizes with the Class 6 Speed specification. The company is also planning to introduce a 16GB model later this year to further strengthen the lineup.
There is a growing demand for recording High Definition video and high resolution images with the expansion of HD camcorders and high-resolution digital still cameras, and card-based recording media is expected to have larger capacity and higher data transfer speeds. The new model meets such demand with its SDHC* specification, which is compatible with the SD Memory Card Ver.2.0 standard as well as Class 6 Speed specification which guarantees minimum data transfer speed of 6MB/s.
