Screen USA Announces Labelexpo Americas Exhibit Theme: 'Quest' for Label/Package Printing Mastery

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. — Anyone who devours adventure novels or watches epic films knows that quests can entail many twists and turns, dangerous obstacles to be overcome and the very real possibility of disappointment at the end of a long journey. Visitors to the Screen USA stand at Labelexpo Americas 2014 will encounter no such challenges. Instead, they will be amply rewarded in their quest for mastery in label and package printing.

Using actual print samples and live demonstrations, Screen USA will showcase digital solutions designed to drive extra value for printing customers and address future trends in the label and package space.

"Our booth's 'Quest' theme will introduce enhanced output devices that support customer growth in new market segments and product categories," explained Ken Ingram, vice president of sales. "Print service providers who come to Labelexpo are on a quest to find greater product performance, quality and cost savings. We will focus on the pursuit of print quality, wide color gamut, repeatability, quickness and profitability, and the Screen digital solutions that reward these pursuits. We promise visitors that your mastery in label and package printing is at hand with Screen technology."

Truepress Jet L350UV inkjet label press: Screen developed the Truepress Jet L350UV to address the exploding demand for value-added packaging that intensifies product differentiation. The Truepress Jet L350UV offers print speeds up to 164 feet per minute (or 173.2 square feet of printed labels per minute) and can accommodate maximum printing and media widths up to 12.6 inches and 13.7 inches, respectively. Thanks to Screen's high-definition CMYK plus optional opaque white UV inks and advanced color management technology, the Truepress Jet L350UV produces a wide gamut of vibrant colors and smooth tones at high resolution. The new corona discharge option improves ink adhesion on the media surface, enabling high-quality printing on transparent film and metallic foil.

An automatic printhead cleaning function helps ensure unfailing results. The very first printed label is exactly the same superb quality as the last, meaning printers can deliver cost-effective production with exceptional results on new and repeat jobs. Controlled by Screen's Equios workflow management system and RIP, the Truepress Jet L350UV allows for accurate variable data label printing at full speed.

Users have the choice of configuring the Truepress Jet L350UV as a roll-to-roll press for near-line finishing or automating label production from beginning to end by connecting the press to inline lamination, die-cutting, foiling, coating and embossing systems. At Labelexpo, Screen will demonstrate the JetConverter L350, a newly developed label-converting line for the Truepress Jet L350UV.

PlateRite FX870II digital imaging system: The PlateRite FX870II leverages Screen's knowledge and experience within the graphic arts value chain. The PlateRite FX870II outputs narrow-web flexo digital plates, letterpress digital plates and thermal ablative film for the production of tags, labels, plastic bags and specialty materials. An option for imaging thermal offset plates is available. A choice of 2,400 dpi, 2,540 dpi and 4,800 dpi resolutions coupled with screen rulings up to 200 lpi affords consistently precise imaging. The PlateRite FX870II is designed to support several screening methods, including Screen's 4,800 dpi Flexo Dot Hybrid Screening.

Equios, the output center for all printing devices: Screen's universal workflow supports print-on-demand and digital plate production using a single interface. Equios drives multi-device output and controls all stages of production, from receipt of the customer file through delivery of the finished project. Equios automates job management, including imposition and color management, across different Screen digital output devices, as well as POD presses and proofers from third-party vendors. Operators monitor and manage jobs from a central dashboard.

DynaFlex™, flexible RIP features and special functions: The hot folder-based DynaFlex workflow is packed with substantial controls. Traditional RIP and workflow features include AM and hybrid screening, preflight and soft proofing for contone and raster pages. In addition, DotTiff preview, highlight dot support, dot gain tool and trapping significantly reduce throughput times and make the process of creating color separations for flexo printing more precise and effective. Users can achieve a wider tonal range, sharper image detail and higher print density, resulting in smoother transitions and brighter, more vivid colors.

At Labelexpo Americas 2014, Screen USA will underscore its commitment to the label and packaging segments of the printing industry.
