Scotch Yoke Solution to Difficult Valve Applications, Rugged New TRIAC THD Heavy Duty Actuators Deliver Torque to 600,000 in. lbs
February 2005 - Engineered tough to handle big fluid and air handling challenges in the most demanding environments and industries, new TRIAC THD Series heavy-duty scotch yoke actuators from A-T Controls, Inc. deliver built-to-last reliability in a wide array of torques up to 600,000 in. lbs. Capable of operating ball, butterfly and plug valves, dampers or louvers - any device that requires a quarter turn movement for on-off or throttling service - the THD actuators feature a symmetrical design yoke that delivers maximum torque at both ends of the 90° cycle. Proven engineering and quality materials stand up to hard service, especially in the oil and gas, refining, pipeline, chemical processing, offshore, mining, primary metals, and power industries.
The THD Series meets comprehensive line needs with 12 actuator sizes, each available in spring-return or double-acting versions and operating air pressures from 40 to 125 PSIG, plus a complete line of accessories. In addition, A-T Controls offers complete mounting hardware to integrate THD actuators with any quarter-turn valve, damper or louver.
THD actuators are temperature-rated from -20°F to 180°F, with an optional low temperature rating of -50°F to 180°F (-46°C to 80°C) or a high temperature rating of 0°F to 350°F (-18°C to 170°C).
Proven engineering and materials assure long trouble-free service. A bronze square slide bearing and chromium-plated piston rod, guide bar and cylinder tube deliver smooth stroke and extended life while reducing wear points. Standard features include heat treated steel springs, travel stop adjustment of ±8° in both directions, weatherproof enclosure and Parkerized coating on internal and external surfaces.
Like all TRIAC actuators, the THD series is complemented by a complete line of accessories such as jackscrew, hydraulic overrides and solenoids. Mechanical, proximity, inductive and transmitter limit switch options are available in all NEMA ratings, along with pneumatic, analog, digital and smart positioners.
