Sciton Announces ProFractional Launch During ASLMS

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 17 // -- Sciton, the leader in laser resurfacing technologies, announced during the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), in Grapevine, Texas, the launch of the new ProFractional laser technology. ProFractional employs the robotically scanned Contour laser from Sciton to deliver micro-ablation channels deep into the dermis. The resulting new collagen foundation that forms, as part of the body's natural healing process, leads to visible improvements in patient's wrinkles, skin tone, texture, and pigmentation

Additional clinical studies have shown ProFractional procedures to be useful for treating acne scars. According to Dr. Kent Remington, a dermatologist in Calgary, Canada, "Scars are difficult to treat and patient expectations are often far beyond what we can accomplish. With ProFractional, patients are pleased with the radiance of their skin and improvement in their scars."

A unique aspect of ProFractional technology is the ability to combine a ProFractional treatment with the popular MicroLaserPeel(R). During an evening seminar at ASLMS, Dr. Pozner discussed his findings. "Because the ProFractional and MicroLaserPeel come in the same system, it is extremely easy to combine the procedures," stated Dr. Pozner. "With the combination, I am able to provide desirable dermal remodeling by creating these micro-ablation channels using the ProFractional and eliminate unwanted collateral heating. I then use the MicroLaserPeel to ablate away a contiguous area of the epidermis at precise depths to remove the visible signs of sun damage. This enables me to provide a complete fractional treatment in fewer patient visits," further stated Dr. Pozner.

Sciton owners who currently offer MircoLaserPeels to their patients can add the ProFractional module to their systems. "Sciton is committed to offering advanced technologies that further increase the value and utility of their PROFILE laser," commented Rob Ellis, Director of Marketing for Sciton. "It's through this commitment, that Sciton lasers are considered to be best of class in their respective categories among our core base of customers, specifically Plastic Surgeons, Dermatologists and Facial Plastic Surgeons."
