A versatile, industrial-duty, "pliers-like" scissor that comfortably fits into the hand for precisely cutting a wide variety of small plastic and light metallic materials is available from Xuron Corp. of Saco, Maine.
The Xuron 440 High Precision Scissor features a cutting head that produces a clean, square edge effortlessly on a variety of materials, especially PVC jacketing and photo-etched metal parts. Instead of the finger-loops found on conventional scissors, this ergonomically designed tool has soft rubber handles, a Light Touch return spring, and employs a mechanical advantage.
Developed for assembly workers and field personnel who must repeatedly cut for an entire shift, the Xuron 440 High Precision Scissor is comfortable to hold, regardless of hand-size. Ideal for slitting the plastic jacketing on coaxial cables and for de-gating parts, it has a maximum cutting diameter of 20 AWG (0.8mm) soft wire and soft sheet metal up to 0.005" (0.1mm).
