Schramm Saves Time, Money with EZEFIT Wheel Upgrade

Schramm recently modernized equipment that helped reduce maintenance costs, increased quality and improved safety in its high-production West Chester facility by upgrading its 34-year-old year-old Eight Wheel Autoblast® Monorail Shot Blast System with four direct drive EZEFIT® wheels during a two-part Equipment Modernization Program (EMP). The first EMP upgrade was completed a year ago, and Schramm - pleased with the results from the first Wheelabrator® machine upgrade - contacted Wheelabrator for the second EMP process to help with leaking and wear issues associated with the high-production blasting equipment.
In addition to the four direct drive EZEFIT wheels, Wheelabrator installed new direct drives for elevators and upper screws and two rows of polyurethane finger seals on the Monorail machine to completely upgrade it with the newest technology available on the market. This total machine refurbishing saved Schramm valuable time in the high-production environment. Additionally, Schramm lowered maintenance costs and improved safety with the total Wheelabrator EMP upgrade.
Because the manufacturing facility could not have extensive downtime, strict time requirements were crucial to the EMP upgrade's success. Wheelabrator delivered the parts in a prompt manor and complied with the stringent time requirement during the upgrade, said James Dolan, Schramm Vice president.
Schramm will have a totally renovated machine at the end of the second phase, said Bill Davis, Northeast Territorial Sales Manager. From the parts delivery to EMP scheduling and deadlines, Schramm was 100 percent pleased with the Wheelabrator EMP upgrade, which has allowed the manufacturing facility to increase quality and save time and money.
The EZEFIT family of Wheelabrator® wheels offers the latest technology in wheel design, reducing maintenance cost and improving productivity. One advantage of using bi-directional wheels (clockwise or counterclockwise) for wheel applications is that it lowers parts inventory costs.
