Original Press Release:

Vishays New 60-A, 100-V Dual High-Voltage Trench MOS Barrier Schottky (TMBS(TM)) Rectifier Delivers Industry-Low Forward Voltage Drop (Per Leg) of 0.70 V at 30 A and 125°C

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA May 19, 2006 Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today released a new Trench MOS Barrier Schottky (TMBS(TM)) rectifier with the lowest forward voltage ever achieved for this device type.

The new V60100C, rated for 60 A and 100 V in a common-cathode 30 A X 2 configuration, delivers a forward voltage drop (per leg) of 0.70 V at 30 A and 125°C, and 0.79 V at 30 A and 25°C.

Optimized for use in 70-W to 800-W high-frequency switchmode power supplies, the low forward voltage drop and superior switching performance of the V60100C reduce power losses and improve the efficiency of the OR-ing diode on the high-voltage output. Typical switchmode power supply applications for the V60100C will include power supplies in servers, industrial computers, and telecom systems. The device will also be used for ac-to-dc rectification in adapters for desktop PCs, servers, notebook PCs, plasma display panel (PDP) TVs, LCD TVs, and monitors.

The V60100C can also be used as an alternative to synchronous rectification (SR) solutions while matching their efficiency and thermal performance.

The V60100C is the latest device in Vishays TMBS(TM) rectifier family, which uses Trench MOS (metal oxide semiconductor) technology to achieve superior performance compared to conventional planar Schottky devices. With their ultra-low forward voltage drops, TMBS rectifiers can perform the same functions with fewer devices, enabling PCB space savings, simplifying designs, and reducing cost for OEMs.

Packaged in the TO-220AB, samples and production quantities of the V60100C are available now, with lead times of 8 to 12 weeks for larger orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery in 1,000-piece quantities starts at $2.
