IXYS Releases New Line of High Performance Surface Mount Schottky Diodes for High Density Power Conversion Applications
Santa Clara, CA., June 19, 2003. IXYS Corporation (NASDAQ: SYXI), a leader in power semiconductors for power conversion and motion control applications, announces the expansion of its Surface Mount Device (SMD) portfolio with the addition of the SMA and SMB standard packages. The first product family in these packages are Schottky diodes with voltage ratings of 40V, 60V and 100 V.
Rectifiers with Schottky barriers are ideally suited for power applications with high switching frequencies and requirements of low conduction losses, such as low voltage power supplies.
Higher switching frequencies, reduced power losses and smaller device footprint SMA and SMB cases enable the designer to increase system power densities due to minimized use of board space and optimized efficiency.
Typical applications are switch-mode power supplies, DC to DC converters, free wheeling diodes, polarity protection, OR-ing circuits for redundant multiple supply voltages and Uninterruptible Power Supplies. Schottky rectifiers are available with different voltage designs to support a variety of applications with optimised characteristics of very low forward
voltage drop, small reverse leakage current and excellent dynamic behavior.
Sample quantities will be available in early July, 2003. SMA products are rated for 1 A forward current, and SMB products are rated for 2A. Some of the products being introduced include the DSS1-40BA rated at 1A and 40V and the DSS2-100AB rated at 2A and 100V. With the introduction of these new SMD packages, IXYS takes another step to supply customers with a full range of solutions for power conversion applications, from high power
to lower power requiring higher power density.
