At American Institute of Architects National Convention and Exposition in Miami Booth #1217) - SCHOTT North America, Inc. showcased an extensive collection of architectural glass products this week at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Convention and Design Exposition in Miami. This included the introduction of a new security glass designed for architectural solutions that require greater privacy in sensitive settings, the announcement of the only fire-rated glass-ceramic currently recognized as an environmentally preferable solution and other product developments.

At the Exposition, SCHOTT unveiled RestrictView, a new glass product designed for buildings where privacy is a priority. The security glass is designed to prevent viewing through two pieces of glass but permit viewing through one piece. In other words, a viewer can see an object or person in a room when looking through one pane of RestrictView, but cannot see through the RestrictView glass on the other side of the room. It is suited for hospital, hotel, commercial or security applications. This was the first time RestrictView was displayed anywhere in the world.

SCHOTT also announced that fire-rated SCHOTT PYRAN® glass-ceramic glass recently received "Cradle to Cradle" certification (C2C). "Cradle to Cradle" certifies that SCHOTT PYRAN® is produced in an environmentally preferable way and qualifies it as the only environmentally friendly fire-rated glass-ceramic on the market. It will be the only fire-rated glass option to help architects and designers qualify for LEED certification.

Additionally, glass installation artist Chris Cosma will appear at SCHOTT's booth to promote his installation of "Alight Embrace" at 1515 Broadway in New York, NY. The 4,000-square foot crystal-clear wall is composed of textured panels made of SCHOTT's LF5 crystal glass.

Among other glass developments on view at the booth, SCHOTT displayed RIVULETTA® glass with a new coating that has recently been made available. The micro-structured decorative flat glass can now be ordered with a coating of NARIMA®, a dichroic color effect glass that produces dazzling variable color effects.
