Schenck Process Recognized in a Global Cement Fuels Award

Carmeuse Lime & Stone, Grand River, OH was named the recipient of this year's "Outstanding Alternative Fuels Project of Year Award" at the recently held Global CemFuels Conference in Vienna, Austria.  The recognition for the alternative fuel feeding system was based on receiving the most online votes cast by industry experts throughout the world.  Schenck Process played a major role in the project by supplying and managing the complete mechanical and electrical system including two weighfeeders, three chain conveyors, dust filters, a distribution bin, IDMS rotary valves, blowers and a full PLC control system.  Also included in the Schenck Process system was a receiving station and storage bin, both from Keith Walking Floor.  The system operates by receiving engineered fuel from walking floor trucks, stores the material then meters and injects it at 5 tons per hour to each of two rotary kilns.  Other firms recognized in the award included, Process Plus, SMP Welding, Vexor and KFS.  Commissioning took place in January 2013 despite challenging winter weather conditions.
