PLEASANTON, Calif., Oct. 9 -- Visioneer, Inc., a leader in intelligent document imaging solutions, today announced the Patriot 480, a new GSA/TAA-compliant sheetfed scanner for government agencies. Small enough to fit on a desktop, the Patriot 480 is optimized to scan ID cards and includes Smart Ultrasonic Double Feed Detection that intelligently turns off for card scanning and then resumes for document scanning within the same scan job. The Patriot 480 incorporates a new, patent-pending front-feed tray that not only increases ID card scanning efficiency in healthcare and financial services applications but also reduces roller wear by up to 60 percent over competing brands, resulting in lower total cost of ownership. The Patriot 480 also includes ultrasonic double-feed detection technology that will alert the user if double feeding of originals occurs during scanning. This technology prevents lost images and enables paper of different weights or thickness to be scanned quickly and reliably.

(BLI), a leading independent tester of document imaging products, selected the Visioneer Patriot 480 duplex scanner for a Spring 2008 Pick award as "Outstanding Departmental Scanner."
