ADLINK Technology Breathes New Life into Low-End PC/104(TM) Market

CoreModule® 430 provides the next migration step for 486-class embedded systems

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 21 / / - ADLINK Technology, Inc. (TAIEX:6166) announces the release of the Ampro by ADLINK CoreModule® 430 single board computer (SBC) to continue its commitment to the PC/104 market. The second new Ampro(TM) by ADLINK product since merging with Ampro, the CoreModule 430 proves that the venerable PC/104 ISA bus is still viable for years to come. Showcasing the level of integration of the DM&P Vortex86 processor, the CoreModule 430 combines a wealth of legacy I/O interfaces with on-board video, DDR2 RAM, USB 2.0 and 10/100 Ethernet on a single 90x96mm module. This announcement gives the broad installed base of 386 and 486 PC/104 users a path forward for continued production of existing medical, industrial control, and avionics systems.

"ADLINK continues to support users of the PC/104 standard that Ampro invented in 1992," said Jeff Munch, CTO, ADLINK. "CoreModule 430 drops directly into applications that use EOL CPUs, allowing system OEMs to continue to leverage their investments in enclosures, cables, software and certifications. For new designs, CoreModule 430 also directly supports the vast ecosystem of proven PC/104 I/O cards."

CoreModule 430 offers a choice of 300MHz or 800MHz Vortex86 processors for Extreme Rugged(TM) environments including temperatures from -40C to +85C, vibration up to 15Grms, and shock up to 50Grms. CoreModule 430 offers 2D graphics with a TTL flat panel interface along with legacy CRT. CoreModule 430 also touts a full 16-bit ISA bus and an Intel(R) Ethernet controller for consistent performance over temperature.

On-board I/O includes (1) UDMA IDE port, Compact Flash socket, (4) serial ports, two with RS-422/485 capability, (2) USB 2.0 ports, Intel 10/100 Ethernet, parallel port, PS/2 keyboard/mouse, and (8) general-purpose digital I/O pins. In addition, CoreModule 430 brings out SPI and LPC Bus interfaces to offer even more flexibility for attaching custom I/O.
