VersaLogic Corp. Embeds General Software's Embedded BIOS® 2000 in Jaguar, Bobcat, VSBC-8

Eugene, OR - VersaLogic Corp. announces a significant BIOS upgrade for three of the company's most popular products. The Jaguar and Bobcat PC/104-Plus embedded computers and the VSBC-8 EBX single board computer are now being shipped with General Software's Embedded BIOS® 2000. The new BIOS version allows increased functionality with special features of interest to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The BIOS is a layer of firmware that provides essential functions necessary for system software and applications. New special features utilized in General Software's Embedded BIOS® 2000 include the ability to boot from CD-ROM, faster booting, enhanced PCI to PCI bridge capabilities, and support for the latest operating systems. Jaguar and Bobcat BIOS versions also have the ability to save custom defaults to EEPROM, eliminating the need for some customers to create custom BIOSes and allowing the boards to function without a battery in applications where the real time clock is not required. The new BIOS upgrade is also capable of supporting remote boot BIOS additions, such as Argon Technology's Managed Boot Agent. The new BIOS is currently shipping on all three boards. VersaLogic's customers also have the option to upgrade to the new BIOS on their existing boards.

"We have worked with General Software for over ten years and appreciate their commitment to the embedded industry," commented Gary Harris, VP of Engineering at VersaLogic. "In addition, we appreciate the ease with which we have been able to implement customized features into the BIOS."
