Bosch Introduces New Construction Saw Blades

New carbide saw blades hold sharp edge up to six times longer than competition

Mount Prospect, Ill., June 16, 2004 - Today, Bosch Power Tools and Accessories, a division of the Robert Bosch Tool Corporation, introduces its new construction series circular saw blades that feature C3 Dyanite Carbide® teeth, hardened body, and thin plate and kerf. Since a blade's longevity is key on any jobsite, Bosch developed this exclusive system to ensure the long blade life that professionals demand.

Ask any professional. When a blade looses a tooth - whether from hitting a nail or due to normal wear and tear - it is on a quick downward spiral to the end of its life. This is why Bosch engineered its new line of construction saw blades with C3 Dyanite Carbide, a unique blend of tungsten carbide and boron that ensure the teeth hold a sharp edge up to six times longer than standard carbide.

Other features also make these new Bosch construction blades the best yet. With one of the thinnest 7-1/4-inch lines in the industry (.046-inches), the new blades are faster than the competition. While other blades normally encounter warping, Bosch utilizes a special hardening process to resist this issue (40-44 on the Rockwell hardness scale), especially in high-heat applications like gang-cutting 4x8 sheets of plywood or combination cuts in roof rafters or microlams. A special anti-friction coating also allows the blade to slice through wood with less friction and reduces heat build up for the straightest and most accurate cut line possible.

A thinner blade also means a thinner kerf - the width of the cut - lending to a quicker, more efficient cut. Combined with an alternate top bevel (ATB) tooth grind - the sharp point on the edge of each tip alternates from left to right - each blade also provides a cleaner, smoother finish. Lower tooth counts are perfect for the framer making quick, rough cuts, while higher tooth counts provide trim carpenters with finer finish cuts. In addition to a 7-1/4-inch fiber cement blade and 7-1/4-inch metal cutting blade, the Bosch line includes 16 different blade sizes and tooth variations:

- 7-1/4-inch diameter with universal arbor and diamond knockout - 18, 24 and 40 tooth

- 8-1/4-inch diameter with universal arbor - 24 tooth

- 10-inch diameter with universal arbor - 24, 40, 60, and 80 tooth

- 12-inch diameter with universal arbor - 40, 60, 80 tooth

Professionals can currently find these blades accompanying new Bosch CS10 and CS20 circular saws and current 1677M and 1678 worm drive circular saws, or as stand-alone accessories wherever Bosch tools and accessories are sold.
