SATO GL4e Printers Support Microsoft® BizTalk®

Enables more supply chain operators to meet RFID mandate requirements

CHARLOTTE, NC - February 09, 2009 - SATO, a pioneer in the Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) industry and a leader in barcode printing, labeling, and EPC/RFID solutions, announced today that it has added the GL4e series of RFID-ready industrial printers to products that support Microsoft BizTalk RFID.

The GL4e series are SATO's industrial-grade, fully network-manageable printers with a field-upgradeable, ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID option. Ideally suited for global EPC Class 1 Gen 2 applications, the GL4e has successfully established itself as a solution for highly demanding RFID UHF application requirements in the supply chain. Synchronized with Microsoft's BizTalk RFID technology, the GL4e encodes and prints RFID tags and labels to meet global supply chain operators' retail, government-led and other supply chain compliance mandates. The RFID printing solution is also ideal for closed-loop UHF applications.

In line with Microsoft's approach to a uniform way to help manage RFID devices on the Microsoft Windows® platform, SATO has developed a Device Service Provider Interface (DSPI) that allows plug-and-play connection of the GL4e RFID-ready printer with BizTalk RFID.

"We want to enable our partners to develop cost effective RFID-based solutions that span organizational and geographic boundaries," said Paul Sanford, senior product manager at Microsoft. "Investing in BizTalk Server's RFID platform will enable SATO to more efficiently meet their customers' global supply chain needs."

"SATO continues to invest in making its RFID printing solutions compatible with the broadest range of users' systems and IT platforms," said Kaz Matsuyama, managing director of SATO International. "We are constantly working closely with our partners, developers and systems integrators to offer solutions that overcome current integration challenges."

SATO, with its customer-centric approach to product development, delivers the same reliability, durability, and value into every SATO printer it builds.

SATO - Delivering Best-In-Class for speed, performance, and value. SATO - leading the way with fully-functional, cost-effective printing solutions.
