Sapphire Waveplates extend polarization control to infrared.

Press Release Summary:

Custom-manufactured Sapphire Waveplates are suited for any laser that transmits 2.8-4.7 mm. Offered in ½- and ¼-wave, in both multiple and zero order configurations, they can be thinner than quartz waveplates because of intrinsic Moh 9 hardness. Featuring 10-5 scratch-dig surface quality and less than or equal to 1 arc/sec parallelism, waveplates are offered in 10-30 mm dia sizes with V-coat or broadband A/R coatings at less than or equal to 0.25% R per surface.

Sapphire Laser Waveplates Extend Polarization Control to Infrared

Custom manufactured sapphire waveplates that extend the polarization control of medical and industrial lasers into the infrared are now commercially available from Meller Optics, Inc. of Providence, Rhode Island.

Meller Sapphire Waveplates are suitable for use in any type of laser that transmits from 2.8 mm to 4.7 mm and extends polarization control into the infrared; beyond the transmission of fused silica and glass. Offered in ½- and ¼-wave in both multiple and zero order configurations, they can be thinner than quartz waveplates because of their intrinsic Moh 9 hardness.

Featuring 10-5 scratch-dig surface quality and <=1 arc/sec. parallelism, Meller Sapphire Waveplates are offered in 10 mm to 30 mm dia. sizes with "V" coat or broadband A/R coatings at £0.25% R per surface. These durable, low order waveplates provide lambda/4 and lambda/2 retardation with tolerance of >lambda/300 @ 0.632 mm, >lambda/400 @ 1.06 mm, and >lambda/1000 @ 2.94 mm.

Meller Sapphire Waveplates are priced from $350.00 each, depending upon size and quantity. Literature and quotations are available upon request.
