Sanitary Hose & Matched Fittings are Rugged, Reusable and Easily Installed
A line of platinum-cured silicone hose and perfectly matched stainless steel fittings from L.J. Star Inc. provides a convenient and economical way to transfer fluids in sanitary applications. They are particularly well suited to application in biotechnology processes and in both research and production of pharmaceuticals; food, dairy and beverage products; cosmetics and fine chemical products. The hose and fittings combinations are easily and quickly assembled, the fittings are completely reusable, and all meet relevant USDA, FDA and 3-A requirements.
Both hose and fittings are manufactured for L.J. Star by BBS Systems and include seven hose sizes ranging from 1/4-inch to 2-inches and a variety of connections styles.
The hose is available in either four-ply polyester reinforced versions or with stainless steel wire reinforcing. Minimum burst ratings range from 12 bar on the ISO 25 hose to 41 and 43 bar on the DIN-04 and DIN-06 / 1/4" types respectively. All steel reinforced units - ISO 32 / 1-1/2", ISO 34 and ISO 50 / 2" - are rated 20 bar. Max operating temperature for all types is 160deg C (320deg F).
The stainless steel couplings are reusable, fully traceable, crevice free and suited to SIP / CIP / autoclave applications. They assemble (and disassemble) in a matter of minutes using only commonly available hand tools. Key specs include a non-flow restrictive design in which the bore of the coupling is identical to that of the hose, a full-flow compression seal that prevents bacteria build-up and compliance with the standards of USDA, FDA/PMO and 3-A 62-01. The choice of connections includes Tri-Clamp(R) sanitary clamp, the BBS proprietary quick-connect, Orbital weld and the BBS sterile union fitting.
