Sanford Process Corporation and CONMED Corporation Announce a Licensing Agreement for the Use of Sanford Process' Micro-Crystalline Andodic Coating (MICRALOX®)

Sanford Process Corporation and CONMED Corporation announce a licensing agreement for the use of Sanford Process' Micro-Crystalline Anodic Coating (MICRALOX®) and related technologies.

"CONMED is an excellent licensing partner to extend our breakthrough aluminum anodic coating technology that represents a new category of highly chemically resistant anodic coatings ideal for CONMED's Hall 50™ line of re-usable medical equipment and instruments," says Jack Tetrault, President of Sanford Process Corporation. "Our experience with CONMED during the coating evaluation has been excellent, with aligned interests in providing superior anodic coating performance that extends the working life of aluminum instruments, especially those that require repeat cleaning and sterilization."

Surgical handpieces are often cleaned with very high pH detergents, which can, over time, wear away standard anodic coatings. However, the new Hall 50™ handpieces are designed and manufactured with Micro-Crystalline Anodic Coating, MICRALOX®, to withstand such challenging environments. This coating technology is extremely durable and we concur with Sanford's claim that it provides approximately 10 times more resistance to high pH cleaning detergents than traditional coatings. "This will allow Hall 50™ handpieces to better stand up to harsh cleaning detergents, while maintaining an aesthetically appealing finish", according to CONMED's Jordan Turner, Sr. Global Product Manager, Capital Products.
