CALEA (Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act) compliance is required by all broadband service providers in the US to have surveillance capabilities (wiretapping) on telephone exchanges and IP communications, such as VoIP (voice over IP), in the event of a court order. This requirement presented broadband providers in the US with a unique challenge that required an immediate solution.
Sandvine's solutions for Intelligent Broadband Networks have been deployed in Grande's network since the beginning of the year. Following the pending CALEA requirement, Sandvine's professional services team developed a solution that enabled Grande to achieve CALEA compliance by the May 14, 2007 deadline.
