Sandvik Presents Sanicro(TM) 56Mo, a New Slickline Grade for the Most Extreme Oil and Gas Environments

HOUSTON - Sandvik, a developer and producer of advanced stainless steels, special alloys, titanium and other high-performance materials, is launching its new slickline grade Sanicro™ 56Mo, a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy suitable for service in the most corrosive oil and gas environments.

Sanicro™ 56Mo was developed as an alternative to more costly competitor grades, and it comes with equal abilities. It is able to withstand a wide range of aggressive conditions in downhole settings, making it suitable for service in the toughest oil and gas wells.

"For many years, the industry has faced formidable challenges when tackling very sour and corrosive oil and gas conditions. Sanicro™ 56Mo will not only provide one of the highest mechanical strengths in the industry, but it is also more cost-efficient than equivalent products. This is especially important given the current economic climate in the oil and gas sector," said Nigel Haworth, Global Business Unit Head, Oil Gas, Sandvik.

Nigel continued, "At Sandvik, innovation is always at the heart of our business. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide a wide range of products and solutions to address the needs of our customers in demanding environments. With the availability of Sanicro™ 56Mo, our customers will now have access to a new slickline grade with such superior corrosion properties at a very competitive price. This is indeed an exciting time ahead for Sandvik."

Sandvik's advanced materials maximize production with quicker, safer and more efficient processes in the world's most demanding environments. Sandvik is setting new industry standards with its next generation high performance materials to meet the operational demands presented by the pressure in extreme water depths below 10,000 feet, and at temperatures above 400°F.

Patrik Kjellström, Application Specialist, Energy Wire, Sandvik, shared, "Sanicro™ 56Mo contains high levels of Nickel, Molybdenum and Chromium, making it highly resistant to even the sourest of wells, at temperatures up to 475°F, or 250°C. We look forward to bringing this to our customers in the United States and around the world."

Sanicro™ 56Mo will be showcased at Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Houston 2016 from 2 to 5 May. Located at Booth 2701 at NRG Park in Houston, Texas, Sandvik will also exhibit a wide range of other corrosion-resistant products, including OCTG tubing, downhole control lines, subsea piping and hydraulic lines for drilling risers, and more. The booth will also display the complex components of powder metallurgy hot isostatic pressing (HIP) and Sandvik ClikLoc™ rapid action connector for riser applications.
