IBM TotalStorage SAN Switch Model B32 Introduces 4 Gb 32-Port Fibre Channel Switch to Support Improved Port Density and Performance

Overview
The TotalStorage® SAN32B-2 fabric switch (2005-B32) is the first member of the TotalStorage SAN b-type switch family, and introduces 4 Gb FC switching capability to mid-range and enterprise SAN. These features are intended to support improved
performance for storage networking demands with improved affordability, higher throughput, and enhanced port density.

The new model provides:
o 4 Gb per second port-to-port throughput with auto-sensing
capability for connecting to existing 1, 2, and future 4 gigabit
host servers, storage, and switches
o 32 non-blocking ports with full duplex throughput at 1, 2, or 4 Gigabit per second link speeds
o High availability features - redundant, hot-pluggable power
supplies and fans, automatic path routing, and nondisruptive
firmware upgrades
o Scalable ports on demand 16, 24, or 32 port increments to
accommodate a broad range of connectivity solutions, in 1 U form
factor for enhanced port density and space utilization
o Scalability from mid-range to very large enterprise SAN fabric
environments
o Open FCP support
o Full compatibility with existing TotalStorage SAN b-type switches (IBM 2005, 2109, and 3534)
o Base B32 model firmware features - Advanced Zoning, Web Tools, and Fabric Watch
o Optional features - Additional Port Activation, Fabric Manager
V4 Max Supported Domains, Extended Fabrics, Remote Switch,
Advanced Security, Enhanced ISL Trunking, and Performance Monitoring
o Support for 2 and 4 Gb short wave and long wave Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) optic transceivers
