SEOUL, KOREA on Nov 13, 2007

SEOUL, KOREA -- November 13, 2007: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced memory technology, today announced that the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) selected the Samsung 64GB Solid State Drive (SSD) to receive its Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Award in the "Enabling Technologies" product category.

Samsung's 64GB SSD is the leading alternative for traditional hard disk drives in laptops, desktops and servers. Since the drive is based on NAND flash memory, it offers numerous advantages over rotating magnetic media including much improved performance and high reliability.

"The Solid State Drive signals a new era in computing enabled by the lightweight, shock-resistant and blazing fast qualities of flash memory," said Jim Elliott, director, NAND flash marketing, Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. "We are proud to accept the CEA 'Innovations' award and will continue to lead the SSD market with components that lower the total cost of owning a PC."

The award comes after a recent announcement that Samsung has become the first in the industry to sample 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch 64Gigabyte (GB) solid state drives (SSD) with a super-fast SATA (Serial ATA) II/native SATA interface. With a sequential write speed of 100Megabyte per second (MBps) and sequential read speed of 120MBps, the SATA II SSD is poised to expand the market for solid state drives from notebook PCs to corporate servers and other high-performance storage applications.

Samsung was also first to offer a 32GB PATA SSD in March 2006, followed by a 64GB version using the SATA I interface in March of this year.
