Sample Kits enable current limiter, thermistor testing.

Press Release Summary:

Standard, Mega, Mini, and Sensor Sample Kits enable designers to test Ametherm inrush current limiters and NTC sensing thermistors. Standard consists of 9 SL series 120 and 240 Vac limiters. For single- and 3-phase input voltages up to 680 Vac, Mega provides 5 MegaSurge™ series limiters. Sensor kit of NTC sensing thermistors includes 4 probe assembly types – ring lug, threaded hex nut and tip, epoxy, and steel housing – and one device from ACCU-Curve series of interchangeable thermistors.

Original Press Release:

Ametherm Sample Kits Now Available From Digi-Key

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Ametherm today announced that sample kits of the company's inrush current limiters and NTC sensing thermistors are now available from leading electronic component distributor Digi-Key Corporation. Digi-Key is stocking Ametherm's Standard, Mega, Mini, and Sensor Sample Kits.

"With our convenient sample kits, designers can test a range of Ametherm's most popular inrush current limiters and NTC sensing thermistors, making it quick and easy to find the right part to provide reliable circuit protection and high-accuracy temperature compensation and measurement in their applications," said Medhi Samii, vice president of engineering at Ametherm. "We are very excited to have Digi-Key offering the kits and providing greater access to this flexibility for our customers around the world."

Ametherm's Standard Sample Kit consists of nine 120 VAC and 240 VAC inrush current limiters from the company's SL series. The devices feature resistance values at 25 °C of 10 Ω, diameters from 3 mm to 32 mm, and steady-state current from 1.0 A to 15.0 A. For single- and three-phase input voltages up to 680 VAC, the Mega Sample Kit features five inrush current limiters from Ametherm's MegaSurge™ series. The devices offer diameters from 14 mm to 37 mm, up to 500 J of input energy, steady-state current to 18 A, and resistance values at 25 °C of 10 Ω, 30 Ω, and 150 Ω.

The Sensor Sample Kit of NTC sensing thermistors includes four probe assembly types — ring lug, threaded hex nut and tip, epoxy, and steel housing. Constructed of specially formulated metal oxide ceramic materials that are extremely accurate in temperature sensing, the devices feature resistance values at 25 °C from 10 kΩ to 100 kΩ, beta of 3,950 K and 4500 K, thermal time constant down to 10.0 s, and maximum power of 125 mW. The kit also includes a device from Ametherm's ACCU-Curve series of interchangeable thermistors. Offering tight tolerance of ± 0.2 °C and a fast thermal time constant of 7.0 s, the epoxy-coated device can be potted in a variety of housings.

Ametherm products are recognized by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA International) for ensured safety, and many are RoHS-2-certified (with Exemption 7a and 7(c)-1). The devices are optimized for a wide range of applications, including AC motors, power supplies, motor drives, audio amplifiers, battery chargers, air sensors, HVAC systems, high-speed computers, MRIs, and X-ray machines.
