The first improvement is expanded industrial communication protocols. Ethernet/IP and EtherCAT are now possible.
The samos®PRO COMPACT PLUS also offers extended functionality for safe speed monitoring and press applications.
SAFE SPEED MONITORING
This new function block can be used to monitor standstill as well as safe operation speeds. This is particularly useful in setup modes. Multiple instances of the function block can be used to monitor various threshold speeds and act accordingly.

PRESS APPLICATIONS:
Six new industrial press function control blocks were added to the function block library. They allow for monitoring of press contacts and for basic mode control of the press during setup mode, single stroke mode, automatic mode, and cyclic mode. In addition to all the benefits that samosPRO conveys, the use of our certified press function blocks ensure rapid design of a press control circuit, assurances that the logic complies with the latest machine safety standards, and flexibility in programming via the use of parameter and drop-down menus to configure the press operation rather than having to rework the logic diagrams. This makes samosPRO COMPACT PLUS ideal for new or retrofit applications.

The samos® PRO COMPACT base modules offer up to 20 safe inputs and 8 safe outputs in a width of only 45 mm. They include integrated USB, Ethernet and Industrial Ethernet communication. They are flexible and programmable via the free programming tool samos®PLAN 6, which includes integrated simulation and logic analysis tools.
Through its extensive functionality, the compact design and the user-friendly software, these modules can already cover many different safety applications optimally and cost-effectively. With no extra effort, the new modules can be quickly integrated in Ethernet-based networks, so that solutions can be implemented for remote maintenance. If necessary, the new modules from the COMPACT-family can be extended up to 168 safe inputs / outputs. Therefore samos®PRO COMPACT is also perfectly suited for medium to large applications.
The expanded capabilities of the samosPRO COMPACT-PLUS modules allow machine design engineers to seamlessly integrate peripheral devices into the automation network, and to relay control information back to these devices using one of several industrial communications protocols.
