Salesforce.com Celebrates First Anniversary of the AppExchange by Reaching Major Milestone: 500 On-Demand Applications Now Available


More Than 7,500 Customers in 57 Countries Have Installed More Than 20,000 Applications via the AppExchange in its First Year

50 Industry Leaders Demonstrate on-Demand Applications Built With Apex at Event Today

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 16 -- Salesforce.com, Inc. (NYSE:CRM), the market and technology leader in on-demand business services, announced that on its first anniversary, the AppExchange has been a resounding success. In just one year, over 250 partners have made more than 500 applications built using Apex available on the world's first on-demand application directory. Equally important, customers are using the AppExchange as an eBay-style marketplace to browse and find on-demand applications: more than 7,500 customers in 57 countries have installed over 20,000 applications over the past year. The AppExchange has also delivered 185,000 test drives since September 12, 2005.

The salesforce.com AppExchange now offers more than 500 on-demand business application listings created by salesforce.com, its customers, developers and partners. Together with on-demand solutions on the AppExchange, Winter '07, the 21st generation of Salesforce CRM applications, gives all 27,100 salesforce.com customers the ability to easily manage and share all of their business information on demand.

Applications on the AppExchange not only dramatically extend salesforce.com's on-demand CRM application portfolio but also include diverse new areas such as wealth management, capital markets, energy conservation, manufacturing, retail, document management, project management, customer service, business intelligence, email marketing, data cleansing, professional services management, recruiting and many others.

AppStore: Monetizing the AppExchange

AppStore will be the catalyst to unlock the value of Apex and the AppExchange, accelerating the vision for the creation, delivery, and success of any application on demand. AppStore will provide a complete package of commercial services and revenue-sharing programs for developers and partners, who will be able to use AppStore as a global distribution network to market, sell, invoice and deliver the applications they have built using the Apex programming language and platform and made available on the AppExchange. Customers will be able to use AppStore as a single source for trying, buying and deploying on-demand applications on the AppExchange.

AppStore services are currently scheduled to be offered in a phased approach throughout 2007: Standard Referral in Q1 of calendar 2007, Premium Referral in Q3 of calendar 2007, and AppStore Checkout in Q4 of calendar 2007.
