Sage Software Supports Medicare Program with Pay-for-Performance Capabilities

Products Enhance Care, Simplify Physician Bonus Receipt

TAMPA, Fla. - June 26, 2007 - Sage Software today announced its support for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid's Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI), a pay-for-performance (P4P) initiative that is scheduled for implementation in July, 2007. This initiative is designed to help physicians enhance quality of care and offer bonuses based on quality results and accurate tracking and reporting of patient data. Sage Software offers user-friendly EHR tools and detailed documentation to enable physicians to make it easier for them to receive CMS's 1.5 percent reimbursement bonus.

Sage Software's products help physicians achieve increased ROI through not only pay-for-performance bonuses, but increased efficiencies throughout the practice. The products - which include Intergy EHR by Sage, Sage Software's integrated EHR and practice management system, and Practice Analytics - enable physicians to gain a complete view of their entire practice. Specifically with regards to PQRI, Sage Software's products allow physicians to analyze patient EHR information regarding lab tests, specific types of treatments, and more.

Customers confirm that this information simplifies data analysis and tracking and expedites physician reimbursement - benefits that have made a substantial impact on practices like Metabolism Associates.

"I can't imagine trying to comb through reams of patient information stored in paper charts, which would make the reimbursement process substantially slower," said Dr. David Simon, Metabolism Associates. "Using products from Sage Software will allow us to expedite information to CMS, enhancing the chances of us receiving pay-for-performance reimbursement more quickly."

According to Michael Burger, Director, Clinical Product Management, Sage Software, a key goal of Sage Software products is to enable easier extraction, analysis and compilation of data.

"One of the challenges posed by traditional paper charts is the difficulty in manually keeping track of patient data. Retrospective paper chart review is typically more costly than the pay-for-performance bonus," explained Mr. Burger. "All of our products enable P4P data to be collected as a byproduct of the patient exam. Using Sage Software's tools, physicians can extract the appropriate data to meet the P4P criteria without needing a staff programmer to create queries and reports."
