IN4000 - New Inductive Safety Sensor from SICK

Minneapolis, Minn., - March 2, 2006. SICK, one of the world's leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems and automatic identification products for industrial applications, today announced the IN4000 Inductive Safety Sensor. The IN4000 from SICK is activated by metal, so it does not require a separate coded actuator. The IN4000 can be connected directly to an IN4000 relay evaluation unit, selective SICK safety bus networks, or approved third party safety controllers.

The IN4000 Inductive Safety Sensor is ideal for robot axis and gantry positioning to either find home or safe, end-of-travel positions and to limit robot motion outside of its restricted space. It can also be used as a safeguarding solution for monitoring door positioning on a machine. For example, the sensor triggers the robot to stop if a door opens.

This new safety sensor is tamper-resistant and has built-in dual components and self-checking to ensure its operation as a safe positioning device. It is also resistant to shock and vibration for those heavy-duty applications. Using LEDs, the status indication can be read directly on the sensor. A self-monitoring feature detects failures, such as a coil break, short circuit or cable break. The sensor is rated Category 4, in accordance with EN 954-1 and has an enclosure rating of IP 67. The input and output signals on the sensor correspond to EN 61 131-2 and are compatible with the I/O signals on a safe PLC.
