Revolutionary Safety Concept from CEDES

Recently, the world wide operating photoelectric-specialist CEDES has presented two new groundbreaking products for machine safety and industrial automation: safety light curtain Safe400, and the corresponding multifunctional safety relay SafeC 400.
(mbr) Both new safety products from CEDES are extremely flexible, and thereby guarentee their use in the most varied industrial applications.
At first notice, the Safe400 safety light curtains (Type 4 according to IEC/EN 61496-1,-2) stand out due to their incredibly slim profile. With a cross section of just 15 x 20 mm, they are easily integrated into machines with little available space. The Safe400 is not limited to simply a small housing: Due to a module length of just 50 mm, the protective height can be tailored to every application, up to a length of 2500 mm, without additional surcharges, according to the customers desire. It is also not a problem to cascade multiple protective fields in to one light curtain. A resolution of 14 mm for finger protection and 30 mm for hand protection is also available. But these safety light curtains really shine when used in combination with the new multifunctional safety relay SafeC 400: Be it floating or static blanking, height measurement, stroke or muting operation - the combination light curtain Safe400 and multifunctional safety relay SafeC 400, unleash the full potential of the new product lines from CEDES.
The multifunctional safety relay SafeC 400 is actually the "Star" of the new product line: Next to the functions already mentioned for the light curtain this device (112 x 105 x 135 mm) has emerged as a true all-rounder and allows for the simultaneous connection of:
- Multiple light curtains, scanners, and/ or through-beam sensors
- Emergency stop buttons
- Start buttons
- Muting lamps and sensors
- Safety interlock switches
- Two hand controls
- Key switches
- Safety mats and edges
- Motion and stop motion detection sensors
Thereby, the multifunctional safety relay SafeC 400 takes over the complete machine safety control. Furthermore the SafeC 400 distinguishes itself with three separate interfaces: One optical for configuration tasks, one RS-485 interface for the fast transmission of height data in measuring tasks, and the CEDES-extension bus for the connection to further safety modules. SafeC 400 contains up to 8 relay outputs with a switching capacity of 2000 VA per output. Naturally safety relevant transistor outputs are not missing which for instance may be used to directly switch more powerful relays. Status information for all components are available as PNP outputs for direct connection to a PLC. Due to the compact design, SafeC 400 is especially well suited for small control cabinets, e.g. for use in automated handling/packaging machines, presses, semiconductor, and textile machines.
Thanks to the use of the latest technology in the new Safety family from CEDES, the costs for the new safety products have been kept extremely low.
