Leviton Enhances Powerswitch Line With New 30 AMP Front-Operated Safety Disconnect Switch
Little Neck, NY, August 18, 2008 -- Leviton has expanded its line of PowerSwitch(TM) watertight safety disconnect switches with the addition of the DS30AX -- a compact 30 Amp, 600 Volt AC, non-fused switch. Leviton PowerSwitch safety disconnect switches include 30-, 60- and 100-Amp rated devices in fused and non-fused versions. The DS30AX, a non-fused horsepower-rated switch in a watertight enclosure, is ideal for motor disconnect applications in a wide variety of industrial environments. Designed for easy installation, the DS30AX features generous wiring space and includes a watertight hub, 4 mounting feet, 7 conduit entry points, integral ground plate and factory-installed auxiliary contact.
Measuring only 4.5 inches deep by 5.28 inches wide, the DS30AX enclosure features a front- operated handle and an exclusive bottom-hinged cover, which is ideal for tight spaces and areas with stacked switches. The front-operated red "pistol grip" handle with integrated lockout meets OSHA safety regulations and provides quick visual confirmation of the switch's power status. For enhanced safety and easier access during installation and maintenance, the cover features a circuit identification pad and bottom hinge mechanism that pivots180 degrees.
Designed for harsh, wash-down environments, the housing on the DS30AX is constructed of impact-resistant, non-conductive Valox® PBT thermoplastic and has a UL 94 V-0 self-extinguishing flammability rating. It meets IP67 and NEMA Type 3R, 4X and 12K watertight and dust tight enclosure standards.
The DS30AX's captive stainless steel housing screws, ¾" watertight hub, integral grounding plate and auxiliary contact combine to make the device faster to install than competitive products. The captive screws remain in place when the cover is opened. The grounding plate features 7 conduit entry points for maximum flexibility. A choice of 5 position settings on the mounting feet make installation even easier. A 10 Amp normally-open factory-installed auxiliary contact is ideal for remote monitoring. The DS30AX accommodates additional auxiliary contacts, including normally-closed contacts.
PowerSwitch disconnect switches meet Section 430.102 (A) and 430.102(B) of the NEC's 2008 requirements. The DS30AX meets UL 508 and is certified cULus per CSA specification C22.2 No. 14.
