Precision Safety Coupling Series SK1 with Taper Conical Sleeve
Taking up the challenge for greater technical demands in modern machine design and construction, R+W has developed the unique patented Model SK1 Safety coupling.
Torque overload protection is often over looked in machine design until something jams resulting in expensive damage and down time. The R+W Series SK1 safety coupling was developed specifically for this purpose. It uses a patented ball detent system that is absolutely backlash free and will disengage within 1 to 3 milliseconds when an overload is detected.
Four versions are available including a single position, multi-position, load holding, and free wheeling. These couplings are preset in the factory to a customer specified disengagement torque and can be adjusted in the field after installation.
The SK1 can be integrated into timing pulleys, sheaves, and sprocket wheels, making them ideal for indirectly driven CNC machines. They are available for a torque range of 0.1 to 1500 Nm (0.89 to 13,275 in. lbs.). It is shaft mounted using a clamping hub, taper conical sleeve or a pure keyway connection for shaft sizes from 4 to 70 mm (0.16 to 2.76 in.).
