Q-Tube(TM) Prevents Accidental Explosion

Q LABTECH is pleased to introduce the Q-Tube(TM) which is a safe pressure reactor featuring a pressure-release and reseal system that prevents accidental explosions due to over-pressurization*.

The Q-Tube has 200 psi working pressure and is used in applications where higher yields, cleaner products, and faster reactions are desired such as organic synthesis, inorganic synthesis, catalytic hydrogenation, polymerization, high pressure and high temperature hydrolysis, acid digestion process for accurate trace metal analysis (such as silver), and other chemical processes.

Typically microwave energy has been used in the past but has been known to cause localized overheating which accelerates decomposition reactions, especially on heterocycles. Using the Q-Tube is safer and virtually eliminates the risk of pressure explosions. Additionally, it has higher reproducibility than a microwave, plus has higher and cleaner product yields. The Q-Tube is greener with an energy savings of 92 percent (energy reduction) and 150 gallons of water per refluxed reaction. Virtually maintenance-free and affordable, the Q-Tube costs only fractions of a microwave synthesizer.

The Q-Tube Purging systems can be operated safely and accurately resulting in high reproducibility with a wide range of gases including ammonia, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, deuterium, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, etc.

[*A pressure reactor enables a reaction to be carried out at higher temperature than the boiling point of a solvent and a reagent, which will increase the reaction rate (Arrhenius Equation: every 10°C increase could double the speed). Pressure reduces reaction volume, including liquid, which increases concentration and collision frequency, and in turn speeds up a reaction. When the desired reaction is accelerated, the competing reagent decompositions are minimized. Pressure enables faster reactions with cleaner profiles.]
