Safe Motion(TM) Technology Featured in Rexroth IndraDrive with Safety-On-Board - PACK EXPO '07

Bosch Rexroth's Safe Motion technology provides the most advanced safety functions, and can be integrated directly into the drive. The IndraDrive with Safety-On-Board is easy to configure, reduces costs and supports all standard communication protocols.

(Hoffman Estates, IL - www.boschrexroth-us.com) Bosch Rexroth's IndraDrive with Safety-On-Board features Safe Motion(TM) technology, a reliable safety solution directly in the drive that incorporates the most advanced integrated safety functions. Safe Motion technology from Rexroth complies with the latest international standards for safe stopping and safe motion.

These capabilities, available on a common platform that functions as a servo drive or frequency converter, reduce the overall cost of integration and deployment for the machine builder while providing the latest safe motion technology to the end user.

The IndraDrive with Safety-On-Board has reaction times up to 400 times faster than conventional solutions that use contactors to produce a safe stop.

The IndraDrive with Safety-On-Board reduces costs by eliminating hardware and wiring for additional I/O. Because the IndraDrive's Safe Motion technology is integrated directly into the drive, motion controllers regardless of manufacturer are able to leverage the technology. The drive has enough I/O for the safeguarding logic needed to interface to safety gates, panel switches, and interlock switches. Thus, the machine builder only needs to learn one safety solution for an application. In addition, with Bosch Rexroth Safe Motion, the machine is pre-certified so the OEM doesn't have to worry about the safety certification process.
The following safety functions can be selected directly at the drive:

Safe standstill
Safe operational stop
Safely reduced velocity (speed)
Safely limited increment
Safe direction of movement
Safely limited absolute position
Safe control of protective door

Rexroth's Safe Motion technology is certified according to EN 954-1, Category 3. The IndraDrive with Safety-On-Board is designed in accordance with EN61508 and EN954-1 SIL3 standards. Rexroth's wizard-based commissioning software, IndraWorks makes it easy to configure each axis.

The drive units, available as servo or vector, cover the entire output spectrum - from 1.5 to 120 kW. The power supply units are available as either regenerative or non-regenerative units.

The IndraDrive with Safety-On-Board supports all standard communication protocols including SERCOS, PROFIBUS, CANopen, DeviceNet and PROFIsafe as well as analog and parallel interfaces. The drive can also be equipped with additional encoder interfaces, industry-specific technology functions and cross-synchronization.
