Russelectric, A Siemens Business, Rapidly Manufactures Auto Transfer Switches for Wisconsin State Fair’s Exposition Center

Order supports creation of state’s first alternative care facility for COVID-19 patients

Hingham, MA – Russelectric, A Siemens Business, a leading manufacturer of power control systems and automatic transfer switches, announces that in just three days, it supplied three 3,000 A auto transfer switches to the Wisconsin State Fair’s Exposition Center – soon to be the state’s first alternative care facility for patients diagnosed with coronavirus.

An automatic transfer switch is used to transfer power from a normal source to an emergency (generator) source to maintain power to critical loads. Russelectric has manufactured automatic transfer switches as well as paralleling switchgear and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems for more than 25 years for healthcare-specific installations. These systems provide sophisticated control functions, including emergency/standby power, peak shaving, load curtailment, utility paralleling, cogeneration and prime power.

Given the current global health crisis, the contractor involved in the transformation of the fair grounds expressed an immediate need for the automatic transfer switches. Production time for this equipment normally takes eight to 10 weeks, however Russelectric completed the order in less than 1/10 of that time.

“Here at Russelectric, we’re honored to be a part of Wisconsin’s efforts to provide critical care to those diagnosed with coronavirus,” says Jason Martin, Head of Russelectric. “The entire team did an amazing job quickly putting together and shipping this order so that Wisconsin could get the supplies it needs to finish the alternative care facility as soon as possible.”
