Dolch and Newly Acquired Touch Controls Unveil New Rugged Solutions

Dolch debuts new harsh environment computer solutions at National Manufacturing Week

Fremont, California, February 8, 2002 - Dolch, the world leader in delivering rugged portable computer solutions, will debut its latest expansion into the harsh environment solutions market at this year's National Manufacturing Week. With the acquisition of Touch Controls, a manufacturer of ruggedized touch solutions for remote computing applications, industrial computers and enclosures, and public access kiosks, Dolch can now offer the most complete line of industrial products for use in the harshest environments. This new product line will be on display for the first time at National Manufacturing Week in Chicago, March 18th through the 21" at booth number 4904.

"Touch Controls represents a natural evolution for the Dolch brand," said Jim Ciardella, President of Dolch. "There is a strong market demand for rugged display products that can survive in extremely harsh and hazardous environments. We are very excited about showing our new products and capabilities at this year's National Manufacturing Week."

Dolch will debut a new six-slot version of its FlexPAC(TM) family of products. Code-named SixPAC, it sports six full-size expansion slots to handle any PCI or ISA add-in card requirement, while not changing the height or width and adding only 2 inches of depth to the current FlexPAC. In addition to more expansion, Dolch customers can select from an Intel Pentium(R) 4 running at 2GHz or the Pentium(R) III running at 1GHz. And, the video memory has been upgraded to 16MB in some models.

Dolch will also introduce an upgraded NotePAC(TM) industrial notebook computer, now available with an integrated full-color printer option. A rugged all-metal enclosure protects the inkjet printer from physical trauma, and maintains the portability of the entire system. One handle, one bag; maximum performance and ruggedness. Designed for the user that needs hard copy on the move, but who also needs a robust and reliable solution, the printer assembly is attached to the NotePAC via a machined interface plate and high tensile screws to form a single portable unit.

"Dolch has built its reputation by introducing rugged industrial portable computing technology to the marketplace faster than anyone else," commented Ciardella. "Here we integrate a color printer in a protective enclosure so our customers don't need cables or power cords." Dolch will also introduce SafeTTouch(TM) EX, the world's first flame-proof, explosion-proof touch screen workstation certified for use in all Class I, Division 1 areas. Other explosion proof computer workstations on the market do not offer touch screen technology, which has become a staple in industrial automated systems.

The SafeTTouch EX workstation features an EnhancedInfrared(TM) touch display, utilizing touch screen technology, which is inherently safe and ideally suited for Class I, Division I conditions. EnhancedInfrared touch screens use a matrix of invisible light beams to detect operator input and maintain their calibration without drifting. EnhancedInfrared touch screens are operationally immune to cuts, scratches or wear of the touch surface. The operation of the touch screen is covered by a comprehensive 5 year warranty. Typical applications include oil and gas production and exploration, refineries, pharmaceutical operations, volatile chemical production, and other applications where potentially explosive or flammable atmospheric conditions may be present.
