Glacier Introduces New Cost-Efficient 10 Inch GX Rugged Forklift & Fixed-Mount Computer
Glacier Computer, a leading developer of versatile and powerful industrial computer systems for harsh environments, announces a new 10" version of the GX series of rugged computers. Based on customer demands for an ultra-small compact form factor, the GX-1000 measures 10.1" W x 8" H x 2.9 D, making it the most efficiently designed harsh environment unit of its kind. The GX-1000 establishes a new benchmark for forklift-mounted units by offering a comparable feature set at a dramatically reduced cost.
The GX-1000 houses an efficient, low heat 800 MHz Via processor and offers a bright 10" LCD as opposed to a 12". The GX-1000 is designed for applications where users require PC-compatible computing power but are limited by space. Specific interest will be for forklift-mount applications where operators are concerned about their line-of-site.
The GX offers plenty of screen real estate, touchscreen operation, and wireless connectivity. All operating systems are supported, including DOS, Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, and simple terminal emulation.
The GX-1000 comes equipped with 256 MB DRAM, which is upgradeable to 512 MB, a 20 Gig minimum hard drive, and 10/100 Ethernet onboard. It also offers an optional 2.4 GHz wireless radio, 802.11 B or G, a resistive touchscreen, and multiple industry standard I/O.
The GX-1000 10" unit rounds out a product line currently consisting of 12" and 15" versions. Glacier also offers a rugged tablet and laptop for portable challenges.
