Ruckus Wireless Providing High-Capacity Smart Wi-Fi Network to Thousands of Attendees at Interop Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS - INTEROP (Booth 642) - Ruckus Wireless, Inc. (NYSE: RKUS) announced today that Interop, the leading independent technology conference and expo series designed to inform and inspire the world's IT community, has deployed an advanced Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi network (InteropNet) to provide reliable, high-performance mobile Internet connectivity to over 12,000 show participants during this year's Convention and Expo, including at the Cloud Connect Summit.

Interop Las Vegas is the organization's flagship event held each spring, with the annual Conference and Expo taking place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center now through April 4, 2014. Leveraging Ruckus technology, InteropNet is a critical backbone for exhibitors, speakers and attendees.

"We believe Ruckus technology is uniquely suited for serving high-capacity, high-density environments like trade shows, and we know the thousands of show attendees will enjoy a great user experience on InteropNet," said Glenn Evans, founder and CEO of Acrux Consulting Inc. and the lead network architect for InteropNet. "As experienced wireless network integrators for high-profile events like Interop Las Vegas, Ruckus products and technology provide the reliable, high-performance Wi-Fi both we and our clients demand."

InteropNet, the Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi network at Interop Las Vegas, consists of over 75 Ruckus ZoneFlex™ access points (APs), including the all-new Ruckus ZoneFlex R700 802.11ac indoor access point (AP), the industry's only dual-band, three-stream 802.11ac AP to integrate patented BeamFlex+™ adaptive antenna arrays for ultra high performance, capacity and reliability using standard 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE). The network is centrally managed with a Ruckus ZoneDirector™ 3000Series controller.

Ruckus ZoneFlex APs feature patented BeamFlex+ adaptive antenna technology that maximizes signal coverage, throughput and network capacity, and ensures high performance in tough, high-density operating environments like Interop Las Vegas. The BeamFlex software continually adapts to environments like these with physical obstacles and unpredictable radio frequency (RF) conditions, numerous communicating devices, network performance issues, and application flows. BeamFlex selects the optimum antenna pattern for each communicating device in real time, thereby minimizing noise from nearby networks and devices.

Ruckus Hits the SPoT at Interop

During the Interop Expo, Ruckus is demonstrating in its booth its recently announced SPoT™, the industry's first cloud-based smart positioning location-based service (LBS) that gives carriers/service providers and enterprises the ability to deliver a wide-range of value added services over Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi networks to help increase their profitability while enhancing their users' online experience.

Unlike other industry solutions offered to date, Ruckus SPoT combines unique advantages, such as being completely cloud-based, and offering improved accuracy and performance more cost-effectively. While other location analytics technologies are proprietary and limited to users that have an on-premises location appliance, Ruckus SPoT is completely cloud-based and offers APIs for third party developers. Ruckus SPoT service requires no new hardware and can be used with indoor and outdoor Ruckus access points.

The demonstration of SPoT will visually show two key components, the SPoT Positioning Engine, which accurately pinpoints in real time a user's location in indoor environments like convention centers, and the SPoT Location Analytics Dashboard, which delivers a rich set of client location information, including real-time tracking of device movement and historical analysis of footfall trends.

"One of the key things emerging in the events industry is utilizing location-based services like Ruckus SPoT to enhance the attendee experience," said Evans. "The ability to be able to push content to an attendee based on where they're located on the show floor, for example, is a great value-add for show attendees, exhibitors and event producers. Event producers can also analyze where the most foot traffic is on the show floor to demonstrate to exhibitors the return on their investment, and provide other useful data to them."

The Interop Cloud Connect Summit is being held today and tomorrow, March 31-April 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Ruckus Wireless is exhibiting daily in Booth 642 during the Interop Las Vegas Conference and Expo, starting April 1 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., and continuing Wednesday, April 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Thursday, April 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (All times Pacific Daylight Time).
