4 Materials Offered for New RTM Tank Line

Owosso, MI March 22, 2004. Tri-Mer Corporation, a manufacturer of stainless steel tanks, process vessels and totes, has introduced RTM molded tanks in four materials: polypropylene, polyethylene, PVDF and Halar.

RTM, (Resin Transfer Molding) also called closed liquid molding, uses matched molds, and a pre-mixed, rapid-cure resin and catalyst system injected under pressure, to produce a seamless, one-piece tank that is smooth on both the interior and exterior. Gel coats can be used, but are generally unnecessary. Inserts can be used to "mold-in" fittings and hardware or to create a two-compartment tank where needed.

RTM is an economical and highly repeatable "net-shape" process. Tri-Mer RTM tanks are impact-resistant, with high tensile and flexural strength. They are well-suited for chemical storage, wastewater storage, marine applications and many high-temperature uses. Tanks using FDA approved and UV stabilized resins are available.

RTM tanks from Tri-Mer offer a great degree of design freedom, including custom shapes and colors, dual-containment, and a broad selection of options, such as instrumentation, heaters, and supports.

Tanks can be manufactured with or without insulation, in .25" gage, or .50" gage for aggressive chemicals and other heavy service applications. Wall thicknesses are highly uniform. Standard RTM tanks from Tri-Mer are manufactured in vertical, horizontal, open top, domed and rectangular shapes, up to 10,000 gallon capacity. Several tank styles are stackable.
