Flexible Systems Verify Standard Missile System Data Link Receiver
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Jan. 31 - RT Logic, a wholly owned subsidiary of Integral Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISYS), today announced the delivery of several Uplink Simulator systems to Raytheon Missile Systems in Tucson, Arizona, in support of the Standard Missile production program.
The Uplink Simulators are used to factory test various versions of the Standard Missile. The simulators interface to legacy systems that provide the data streams transmitted to the missile under test. The simulators modulate the data onto an RF (Radio Frequency) carrier and transmit this signal to the missile under test to verify its data link receiver.
The Standard Missile family is the world's most successful air and theater ballistic missile defense system. The Standard Missile technology has evolved over the past 50 years, and the SM-3 variant is a key component of the AEGIS ballistic missile defense system. Now, RT Logic's next-generation RF modulator technology is helping to streamline the production testing process.
"We utilized existing RF and digital products as the starting point for the Uplink Simulator - so while the systems provide a solution tailored specifically for Raytheon's requirements, they also demonstrate our ability to meet project cost and schedule goals by leveraging existing products and capabilities," commented Bill Sward, Product Manager for RT Logic. "In fact, the heart of the Uplink Simulator is a commercial-off-the-shelf RT Logic product - the DG4000 FPGA-based, 3U cPCI (Compact PCI) signal processor. The DG4000 has been used on many signal processing projects and offers the ideal combination of speed and firmware programmability for this type of application."
