RS-485 Transceivers for Motor Control deliver 40 Mbps data rates.

Press Release Summary:

Available with symmetrical or true fail-safe receiver inputs, MAX14840E and MAX14841E are half-duplex RS-485 transceivers that enable data rates up to 40 Mbps in industrial applications requiring long cable runs. MAX14840E features symmetrical fail-safe receiver inputs and 170 mV hysteresis, and MAX14841E has fail-safe receiver inputs that guarantee logic-high receiver output when inputs are shorted or open. Both operate from 3.3 V supply and feature ±35 kV HBM ESD structure.

Low-Voltage RS-485 Transceivers Increase Data Rates and Extend Cable Lengths in Motor-Control Applications

RS-485 transceivers have industry's best ESD protection and a tiny TDFN package.

Maxim's new half-duplex RS-485 transceivers enable data rates up to 40Mbps and are available with either symmetrical or true fail-safe receiver inputs for applications requiring long cable runs.

SUNNYVALE, CA-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX14840E/MAX14841E, high-speed (40Mbps), half-duplex RS-485 transceivers for industrial applications with long cable runs. The MAX14840E features symmetrical fail-safe receiver inputs and high (170mV) receiver hysteresis to improve noise rejection and signal recovery in high-speed and long-cable applications. The MAX14841E has true fail-safe receiver inputs that guarantee a logic-high receiver output when inputs are shorted or open. These features, combined with the robustness of the transceivers, make the MAX14840E/MAX14841E ideal for harsh motor-control environments.

The MAX14840E/MAX14841E operate from a low supply voltage (3.3V), feature the industry's most robust ESD structures (±35kV, Human Body Model), and are fully specified over the -40°C to +125°C automotive temperature range. Both devices are available in standard 8-pin SO and space-saving (3mm x 3mm), 8-pin TDFN packages. Prices start at $1.49 (1000-up, FOB USA).
