Overview
The IBM TotalStorage® SAN m-type family of products expands with the introduction of the IBM TotalStorage SAN04M-R router, as well as feature additions to the IBM TotalStorage SANC40M cabinet.
The IBM TotalStorage SAN04M-R (2027-R04) provides a 4-port SAN router in 1U rack space, the standard edition of SANvergence Management software, and fully populated ports with SFPs supporting multimode fiber. The base router also includes:
Element Manager, for management via Enterprise Fabric Connectivity (EFC) Manager
Dual redundant power supplies
Rack mount kit
Capability for 12 iSCSI server connections
Two ports are 1 Gbps Fibre Channel ports. The remaining two ports are intelligent TCP/IP Gigabit Ethernet ports. Base functionality of the two user configurable ports provides SAN routing on up to two FC ports, FC fabric support, and iSCSI support on Gigabit Ethernet ports.
You can order two optional firmware versions:
iFCP Standard, which enables the maximum number of supported iSCSI server connections (50)
iFCP Enterprise, which includes the same function as iFCP Standard along with enabling Compression and Fast Write functionality
For enhanced management of the SAN router, you can order Enterprise SANvergence Management Software.
For large enterprises with remote satellite site requirements, IBM TotalStorage SAN04M-R routers located in remote sites may be connected over IP networks to IBM TotalStorage SAN16M-R routers in the data center. It provides increased flexibility and helps reduce total cost of ownership.
